Established in 1972 and located in Albany, NY, the New York State Nurses Association Pension Plan and Benefits Fund are separate, multiemployer plans providing health insurance and retirement benefits for RNs and other medical professionals in the New York metropolitan area represented under collective bargaining by NYSNA.

The plans are governed by two Boards of Trustees, which have an equal number of representatives from NYSNA and the management of participating facilities. Here at the Plan and Fund office, we have approximately 45 employees on staff dedicated to providing the highest level of service exclusively to our participants.

The NYSNA Benefits Fund was formed to provide participating employees and employers an affordable, comprehensive, and efficient plan of health insurance. Our non-profit organization offers medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug benefits for participants and their eligible dependents. We also cover participants' short- and long-term disability, life, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance.

With approximately 40 participating employers in the New York metro area, the Fund provides benefits to more than 14,000 RNs. In addition, nearly 21,000 spouses and children of participants also receive coverage through the Benefits Fund.

The NYSNA Pension Plan is a defined benefit pension plan covering approximately 14,000 RNs and close to 6,000 retired RNs or their beneficiaries who receive monthly pension payments. The Plan guarantees that vested participants receive a monthly pension benefit for the rest of their lives. It's portable among approximately 29 participating hospital employers who make all contributions on the RN's behalf.
